Choral

Our Sanctuary Choir assists in leading worship Sunday mornings.   We invite and encourage anyone who would like to sing in the choir, but also sit with the family to feel free to come up to the chancel for the anthem and then return to the congregation for the remainder of the service.  The choir rehearses on Wednesday evenings, beginning at 7:00. We take a much-deserved break during the month of July, during which time the members of the congregation are invited to offer special music during Sunday worship.

Each year, the Music Department sponsors the Annual Potluck Supper, Silent Auction, and Talent Show, which brings out the best of the entire congregation, from excellent food, desserts, pies, ice creams, etc., to singing, dancing, and more. It is the only fundraiser the Music Department holds and you can rest assured everyone has a wonderful time.  Last year the theme was "The Acts of the Apostles" and was held on November 1st. 

Last year's  Christmas Cantata was "I Hear the Prophet Callin' and was presented on December 13th.  It was amazing!  Many thanks to our extra musicians who played autoharp, hammer dulcimer, mandolin, and a vast variety of percussion instruments.

 Handbells

February 7, 2010 - Kevin McChesney, guest conductor

Our Adult handbell choir, Celebration!, rings in worship approximately every 6 to 8 weeks. They also join with the choir for either a Christmas concert or a Canata each year, and attend at least one handbell festival each year. On February 6th, we hosted the Mid-Winter West Texas Handbell Festival with reknowned composer/arranger/conductor, Kevin McChesney as our clinician!  We had a good turnout and a great time with Kevin.  We were also privileged to have him stay overnight and conduct Celebration! during worship on Sunday morning, ringing one of his original compositions, "Anthem."

Celebration! has performed all over the state of Texas, in New Mexico, and in Piedras Negras, Mexico. Rehearsals are on Tuesday evenings, beginning at 7:00.

We are happy to announce that we now have a beginning bell choir, Joyful Noise! This group meets Wednesday evenings at 6:00. They have rung in worship several times and are steadily gaining confidence!
